Pentecost Rally 2010 Photos

Pentecost Rally Wrap Up!!

*Three days later I am still feeling incredibly worn out and filled with anticipation...all at the same time!
*Sunday was such an exceptional day! It was such a rush to "spreach" -realistically illustrate who the Holy Spirit is and how He impacts and involves Himself in our lives during our 10:30 am service here at Sunset Chapel. His availability isn't exclusive but available to all!!
*Sunday evenings opportunity to "preach" God's Word during our Miami-South Florida Pentecost Rally completely took us all to a new level in our intensity to pursue God more in our lives!! It was such an honor to team up with so many outstanding pastors!!
*Psalms 22:22 (NIV) says "I will declare your name to my brothers: in the congregation I will praise you."
*For me it is always a humbling experience to be useful to God whether in small or gigantic ways!! He receives all the credit and glory for all that was accomplished this past weekend!!
*Psalms 9:1 (NIV) exclaims "I will praise you, O Lord, with all my heart; I will tell of all your wonders."
*Psalms 34:3 (NIV) declares "Glorify the Lord with me; let us exalt his name together."
*There is always someplace to go and something to do in this vibrant city! I want to thank everyone for making Central Bible A/G the place to be on Sunday evening! Special thanks to Pastor David Stocker and his entire ministry staff and church for serving as such great hosts! They are sterling examples of what servanthood is all about!
*I am extremely proud of our Sunset Chapel people as well!! Because of your commitment and diligence to partner with me to pray and fast during our ten day period God gave us a stunning outpouring of His Spirit that will forever affect our lives, churches and communities here in South Florida!!
*As I scanned the jam packed crowd sprinkled throughout my eyes riveted upon the many people who regularly attend SC!!
*On the worship team, our multi-talented Kids Pastor Kevin Mohammed was singing and Micheal Mlacker was playing his trumpet! Behind them participating in the mass choir stood Shari, Frances, Maurice, Terry, Lorraine, Jimmy, Micheal, Douglas, Charrie Ann, Cherise, Shanna-Kay, Margie, Karen, and Andrew! Forgive me if I missed anyone!! Both Chris Cotcamp and Rachel Stocker Allen are two terrific worship leaders! What an unmatched combination!!
*I was delighted to observe Adam and Bethany Weatherly our Student Ministries Pastors passionately praying with people as they streamed forward for the infilling of the Holy Spirit!! What an AMAZING church!!
*What a huge night of joy!! Unofficial estimates are well over 1000 in attendance, nearly two dozen first time commitments to cross the line of faith, hundreds were baptized in the Holy Spirit for the first time ever or refilled! I've also been informed that 57 children also received this experience to in their own "Revival Room"! People were also prayed for to receive a healing in their bodies and several stepped forward and participated in a spontaneous water baptism! Our Pastors and their ministry teams were surrounded and covered in fervent and loving intercession by their church families!
*As I personally pressed forward into the crowd to pray with people I was struck by the desperation of so many who desired and wanted a new touch from the Lord in their lives. God graciously granted their requests and opened heavens flood-gates and filled them with unspeakable joy and peace!
*Another highlight of our evening spent together was the honor of having our Pen. Florida District Superintendent Rev. Terry Raburn present with us! He came to present a check for $25,000 towards the purchase of property for the North Miami Harvest Time church and Pastor Errol Bhola! WOW!! Additional money was pledged by churches and individuals as well as an offering was received that allowed the church to exceed $100,000 towards seeing their dream realized of owning their own property and building to worship in!! God is truly worthy to be praised!!
*I am looking forward to hearing numerous praise reports of how God's Spirit is moving in new and creative ways among our South Florida churches!
*The sights and sounds of this past Sundays Pentecost rally will hopefully linger for years to come!!
*I will try to have some pics/videos posted later today from the rally on my blog!

Sunday Splash!

*Today's service was so meaningful to so many this morning. The Holy Spirit's presence just resonated throughout our building! As Pentecostals we must understand, embrace and follow the Holy Spirit's direction in our lives!
*The worship music today was outstanding! Thanks to Douglas and the team for putting their whole heart into it! I am grateful to their commitment to glorify the Lord! And I am disappointed when I know that there are others who are gifted with musical and vocal abilities and they aren't using them. Commitment to use our gift's whatever they may be seems to be an area God is thrusting me to address in a future message. If God is speaking to you and telling you it's time to step up and participate on our worship team, then please contact Douglas Flores at the church to get connected!
*My heart was bursting at the seams with joy this morning as two individuals were baptized in the Holy Spirit! The altar time at the conclusion of my message was off the hook!! Seeing people passionately pursue God without any concern for the clock was inspiring!! It is such a rush to see The Holy Spirit take over a service!!
*If the Lord isn't with us, we have no chance to escape the pitfalls of life or ward off the enemy's attacks. God is the only source able to meet our spiritual and physical needs. That's why He sent the Holy Spirit to us! The Holy Spirit comes to assist, support, promote, back, uphold, encourage, aid, facilitate the believer! God's watchful eye is always upon us! No matter what we are lacking, the Holy Spirit is able to come alongside of us and provide us with the strength and wisdom we need to live a victorious life for Christ!!
*I was extremely delighted to inform and congratulate all our SC attenders on their response to our recent missions giving emphasis! For the past two weeks we have received over 1800.00 towards missionary support around the world! For a small church that is an incredible response!! You guys ROCK for JESUS!! Speaking of missions we are getting closer to our June 13 "Barefoot Sunday"! We are partnering with Samaritans Feet an organization that provides children around the world with a pair of shoes. Our ministry team with be serving the Lord in our bare feet on that Sunday to bring attention to this need. Each person is requested to bring a pair of shoes for a child to receive during the service that we will dedicate to the Lord! We are trusting that this act of compassion and love will touch that child's heart and that they will have the opportunity to become a Christ follower!
*We made available to everyone in attendance today a flyer that announced next weeks "Pentecost Rally" to be hosted @ 6 pm by Central Bible A/G located at 1300 S.W. 87th Ave. This will be an exciting evening of Pentecostal worship and preaching!! You don't want to miss this event!! I encourage you to arrive early and ready for God to do something absolutely amazing in your life!!!
If you are interested in participating in the mass choir contact the church office to obtain copies of the sheet music, cd and practice schedule! I would love to see dozens of SC people in that choir!!
*Today marks our third day to fast together! Already we have seen the results in our service this morning of having determined to seek God individually and corporately to draw nearer to God. I am so proud of you for making the decision to fast! I am literally speechless over how serious all of you are in taking the fast. I can't wait to hear of the awesome stories of blessing that God provides you with!!!
*OK that's enough rambling. Have a blessed week!!

Day Two: Prayer and Fasting

Yesterday I challenged everyone who attends Sunset Chapel to join together in making a ten day commitment to pray and fast. Personally the first day was going great for me until later that evening my body began to signal me that it didn't agree with my decision to go without coffee for the next ten days too! I got hit with a massive headache as my deprived body screamed at me for caffeine! Whew I am so glad that passed!

Today was an opportunity to meet together at Tropical Park and walk with other SC attenders as we spent the morning praying for our area churches and pastors! We prayed for churches by name, we prayed for their pastors, their staff, their vision, their finances, the people who call those churches home, and that God would make them effective in carrying out His vision in Miami! We are collectively expecting God to do some HUGE things in their lives and churches!!

I am so proud of you who decided to join us today! I can't wait to hear what God accomplishes in their services in the upcoming weeks! Be sure to check out the pics I posted earlier!!

I spent a lot of my prayer time with God talking to Him about ministry dreams and ideas for the future. I truly believe it was time well spent as I felt the Lord dropped a few things in my heart. I am not ready yet to announce anything publicly yet but I will once I have all the details God wants to reveal to me. When Shari and I went for a second walk this evening I shared a couple of those God-impressions and she was in agreement that God is speaking and giving me some things that I need to consider very seriously! I am so blessed to have such a wonderful and helpful partner in ministry! She gorgeous too!!

I am really looking forward to speaking tomorrow in our 10:30 service. We will continue our current series "Messages To Pentecostals". Specifically we will take a closer look at what it means to experience the Holy Spirit in your life! If your not filled with the Holy Spirit, anything else your filling your life with is going to be unfulfilling! Worldly things will always leave you empty!

I am very excited about what God is doing at SC and I hope to see you in the morning!!!!

Kick Off To Prayer And Fasting Emphasis

Today marks the beginning of a comprehensive prayer and fasting emphasis that involves our entire church! Jeremiah 33:3 states, "Call unto me and I will answer you and tell you great and unsearchable things you do not know".

In his book "Fresh Wind, Fresh Fire", Jim Cymbala wrote, "If we call upon the Lord, He has promised in His Word to answer, to bring the unsaved to Himself, to pour out His Spirit among us. If we don't call upon the Lord, He has promised nothing-nothing at all. It's as simple as that. No matter what I preach, or what we claim to believe in our heads, the future will depend upon our times of prayer. This is the engine that will drive the church"!

Growing up in Anderson, Indiana which is very near to Indianapolis, the month of May is famous for the Indianapolis 500 Race. The most quoted phrase from that annual race is "Gentleman Start Your Engines"!! Friends I believe it's time for the church to start it's spiritual engines!I I truly believe that God is calling Sunset Chapel to a new level of intimacy with Him. During the next ten days I want to encourage you to "lock your eyes on God". As you spend time with Him and His Spirit you will find your life being elevated to a whole new level!!

Miami is considered one of the most unchurched and unreached in all America! I am truly thankful that Sunset Chapel is grasping God's vision of becoming a change agent in our city! So many people in our city are carrying the weight of anxiety, unfairness of life, health issues, marriages that are struggling, thousands are in financial upheaval, others are without employment. All around us there is an an abundance of hopelessness and discouragement. As a church we cannot turn our backs on these things and pretend that everything is OK. God offers hope and a better future to each one that will surrender their heart and life to Him. I pledge to present the Gospel in my messages each week to these people who desperately need Him to produce life-change in their lives!

Fasting indicates a desperation and determination to "touch the Lord". Today I am desperate for God to provide me with wisdom to lead Sunset Chapel. I need to allow Him to form me into the leader He wants me to become. I need to hear His voice more clearly. And I need and want to spend more alone time with God.

If you have never fasted before and don't know where to begin. Bill Bright has written a helpful guide that will provide you with practical insights on prayer and fasting.

I have asked all our Sunset Chapel attenders to join our leadership team in a ten day season of prayer and fasting! It's my belief that we will all experience spiritual breakthroughs as we participate in this fast!

As you fast I'm encouraging you to also read through the Book of Acts and spending ample time in prayer during the time you would usually eat.

*You can fast for a day or two, or all ten days, whichever the Lord puts on your heart.
*You can fast for a specific time period (like from 5 pm one day to 5 pm the next day).
*You can fast from a particular meal (breakfast, lunch, or dinner).
*You can fast from a particular type of food.
*You can fast from something other than food (like maybe tv, movies, facebook, twitter).

Whatever we fast from it should remind us of our desperation for God! Without Him filling us with His Spirit and touching our hearts nothing significant will happen the weekend of May 23rd, @ 6 pm as we gather together with hundreds of other Christians at Central Bible A/G for a city- wide Pentecost Rally!

Prayer is all about connecting with God. Prayer releases His power and moves Him to accomplish what we could never do on our own. I can't wait to see what happens!

God quickened my heart to lead our church in this time of seeking Him with greater intensity and to prepare us for an awesome outpouring of His Holy Spirit! On Wednesday May 12th, during our mid-week Prayer service @ 7 pm I will be sharing about the importance of prayer and fasting. I hope you will make the extra effort to join us for this great Prayer Service! Let's show up anticipating great things!

Sunday Splash!

*This past weekends Sunday Splash is being written on Monday as I spent the entire afternoon and evening pampering my great wife and mother of our three son's!
*Yesterday's Mother's Day celebration was fantastic! There were chocolate strawberries (special thanks to Neyda Teijeiro for making 100's of these on Saturday!) and free portraits (a big shout out to Pastor Adam Weatherly for taking care of this!!) for every special mom who was present with us!
*I am extremely proud of my wife as she opened her heart and shared her personal journey as a mother. I overheard lots of giggles and laughter mixed in with quiet moments of reflection and tears as she shared about the challenges our family faced as we struggled through the highs and lows of going through a tragic car accident and nineteen years of caring for our youngest son, Carrick, who was severely injured at 4 months of age.
*It was great to see several new faces with us this past weekend too! We look forward to a future opportunity to connect with all our recent guests here at Sunset Chapel!
*I am really looking forward to getting back into the saddle and preaching next weekend! We will resume our current series "Messages to Pentecostals".
*I was able to hear from several of our Miami area pastor's this past week who attended the Pen. Florida District Council meetings held in Orlando. They were all excited about what the Spirit was doing in their services as they prepare to join together on May 23 for our 6 pm Pentecost Rally to be hosted at Central Bible A/G. I am looking forward to a great night of the Spirit's outpouring!!
*By the way, if you would like to be a apart of the combined mass choir that will be singing at the rally. please contact douglas Flores to get sheet music and cd sound tracks. Join other singers from churches all across the city of Miami and worship the Lord in song!!
*Here's a heads up this Friday we kick off our 10 day season of fasting and prayer as we pursue God's Spirit in our lives and church! I will write more about this in the coming days!!
*Also, don't forget to make plans to be with us for our second annual "Prayer Walk" to be held at Tropical Park this Saturday at 9 am!!!! We will gather together at shelter #10 prior to the start of our prayer walk!! I will be blogging more info this week about this event and posting updates by email, facebook and twitter!! This will be a great opportunity for the whole family to participate in!
